This Gate series synthesizes the wisdom of Human Design and the Gene Keys to support you in leveraging your energetic frequency in creating authentic and aligned marketing. It’s designed to help you grow your engagement and inspire your ideal clients. The gates are particularly relevant in your marketing when:

  1. You have the Gate we are exploring in either your Personality Sun placement (this is your personal brand DNA) or in your Personality Mercury placement (how you’re designed to communicate).

  2. When the Gate is stationed in the Human Design Transit chart in either the Sun or Mercury positions - both will create a background frequency of this energy that gives you insight into the types of messaging your ideal clients will respond to.

In Human Design, Gate 13 is called gate of the Listener and is the gate of ‘fellowship’. For centuries, this kind of energy has created fellowship through sharing stories around campfires. The oral tradition of storytelling has done more than just entertain people. It has gathered people over shared ideologies and has birthed movements that changed the course of time.

In my Cosmic Content Codes, I call gate 13, “the Narrator”. It is really about being chosen as a “confidante” or trusted advisor by many. 13th people are the keeper of secrets, a safe harbor and have great power in extracting the lessons to help others. They’re gifted storytellers that can inspire many through telling of personal stories and experiences. These experiences are collected through listening to and deriving from the collective past.

Sharing of experiences & memories is the keynote of gate 13. The narrator harmonizes communities through such sharing of wisdom. That is the sole purpose of storytelling - drawing upon the collective memories.

Gate 13 is the first gate in February transits, and first in the Quarter of Initiation, so it’s quite an initiating energy. It is also the mark of the changing season.

Interestingly enough, 13th gate is part of the cross of the Sphinx. And all 4 gates of this cross (in G center 13, 7, 1 & 2) correspond to the beginning of each new Quarter in Human Design. G center is the center for purpose and direction of the Self. Combine this all and it’s a pivotal leadership frequency.

The shadow of gate 13, discord (& pessimism)

The shadow of Gate 13, “discord” is the inability to listen and learn from experiences. Listening is connected to your level of consciousness and how you process emotions and experiences. The inability to process past experiences will keep people locked in self-destructive patterns.

Or, on the other hand, this shadow manifests as people appearing to listen with empathy but really not caring about anything. They will agree with anything others say and cut themselves off from others and their environment. This is emotional repression.

Gift of this gate is “discernment” which is about inward listening of the voice of heart. To really discern the heart first, then bring in the mind to eliminate discord.

The frequency shifts from shadow to gift when 13th people start to see how their view of others is deeply connected to their feelings. They must witness and examine their own feelings in order to look at the world from a broader, more objective manner. That’s how they expand beyond their sense of individuality and really develop the ability to listen.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A GATE 13 BRAND

If you have Gate 13 in your Personality Sun (or Mercury), you are a brand is that of a gifted storyteller that can inspire many through telling of personal stories and experiences. You have the blessing of being a good listener and are empathetic. Use these skills to intuit the right stories to share. Use empathetic tone of voice like “I’ve been there, I know how it feels, you’re not alone”.

Your brand story is an inspirational tale of connecting deeply to others through empathetic shares and vulnerable truths. Both listening and telling of these truths. It showcases the depth of your emotional processing power and positions you as an empathetic leader with a listening ear.

When it comes to positioning your offers, make sure you showcase your storytelling prowess. Tune into what your audience needs in the moment. Really listen to the collective pulse and then share what you draw from it in an inspiring story. That’s your brand essence. That’s the magnet that draws people toward you. Own it and celebrate the power of ‘sharing experiences’ in your business’s mission.

HOW THE BACKGROUND FREQUENCY OF GATE 13 IMPACTS THE POTENTIAL FOR YOUR MARKETING RESONANCE

No matter the niche you’re in, as a coach, healer, network, or digital marketer, your clients/customers are looking for help. They especially need help when they’re experiencing stuck on creating a community around their gifts and offers.

When the Sun (or Mercury) is in Gate 13, share stories - your stories, your client's success stories, universal stories, hard luck stories, hero’s journey stories. And make sure you ask your audience first to truly listen to their stories as well. Ask them about their opinions, emotions, concerns.

Use social media polls or simply a personal story post which then invites them to open up to you in your safe presence.

Share relevant and resonant content in alignment with Gate 13. Share about:

  • the value of empathy

  • how to tell a good story

  • the defining moments of your life

  • the importance/power of telling stories

  • the story of why you started your business

  • the story of making your first entrepreneurial dollar

  • the thing that happened recently that made you think about your business differently
