Recovering from heartbreak and it feels so good!

Grief is a tough part of life and one that we all experience at some point.  Although if you flip it, not experiencing grief would surely mean you've had nothing to lose. Which is worse right? Anyway, back to grief.  I've been there.

Six and a half months ago I waved goodbye to New York City after calling it home for five years. In retrospect I now realise living there was more than a dream, it was a love affair. Filled with excitement, liberation, intense joy, and that heady feeling that just makes you smile.  Yes I have completely romanticized it and there were disappointments at times too. Not many though!

Joining the dots

“You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.” Steve Jobs

I really love this quote from Steve Jobs. He surely wasn't a prophet on all fronts but this speaks to me. Particularly right now, as I try to make sense of how I've arrived at where I am today and also where I'm heading.

Start before you're ready + an apology to subscribers

I hope like me you're dreaming up a future project of some sort. It's thoroughly stimulating to push boundaries and limits when it comes to what you aim to achieve in life. When I started thinking about following my passion for health and nutrition I had no idea where it would lead. I still don't. But I find with action comes traction. Which is a little like believing you don't need to be ready to start. This is particularly true with a website or blog.

When six weeks ago I felt compelled to launch a website focussed on my future career endeavours I didn't really have a clue what to do. But after plenty of time with my good buddy Google I just got started. I'm quite sure this site will never be finished anyway, it will evolve as I do. And so will you!

Special friends and food

Confession. I've never been much of a cook. There have been short bursts of kitchen related activity (like back when I was living with an exboyfriend or two). But I've never cooked just for me, despite having lived on my own for some 10 years or so. Up until recently that is.

Union Square, Darrows and Health Coaching

Darrows is badged as a 'Farm Fresh Takeout'. I thoroughly love this concept and was excited to try it over the weekend. I was also excited to meet with the fellow health coach student who is to be my accountability coach. She suggested Darrows mentioning in that it has a restaurant area as well.
