Here in a short 35 minute audio file I introduce you to why I started using essential oils, what they are and give you a quick run through the top 10 essential oils we (at doTERRA) recommend for every household.
Whilst doing yoga this morning and during savasana, when I 'should' have been quieting my mind, instead I was inspired to write this post! The reason being, I couldn't wait to get home to apply my essential oils to my desmoid tumor, which was experiencing some discomfort. For the record, I rubbed in some frankincense and copaiba (along with coconut oil) on arrival and voila, no discomfort. Then I got to thinking, these oils are giving me so much relief to a lot of cancer and desmoid related side effects, that this post simply must be written. So here I am!
I'm going to start with the support for breast cancer side effects and then move on to desmoid tumor. Something for everyone? Not really, but I know some of you will be very interested to hear this.
Growing up, I was taught that the world is a place of scarcity. That we wont have enough if we don't 'behave' a certain way. Be that money, love, fun or self fulfillment, the message is the same. There simply isn't enough to go around.
My parents, whilst not perfect had their hearts in the right place. They taught me caution. Invest in the safety of property. Make sure I have my superannuation sorted. Don't expect too much of myself. Recognise, that I need to exercise delayed gratification to set myself up for success. OK that last sentence is a stretch, but it speaks to me!
One of many changes since moving home to Sydney Australia, is returning to the land of driving. Sydney, much like LA is the kind of city where you really do need a car. It's vast and not terribly well serviced, from a public transport POV. I'm also fortunate enough to be able to drive to the office every day which (outside of peak hour) is around 20 minutes. These days I spend 40 minutes+ in my car each week day.
Bored of breakfast radio, I got busy downloading podcasts for my drive. I particularly enjoy true crime. I guess that's because "Serial" is what started my podcasting passion. In the past few months I've listened to a bucket load of this sort of stuff. Then one day, I was out of compelling options and instead listened to some TED talks. After that my listening habits changed to a mix of TED and true crime.
I saw these words on Instagram this week and they thoroughly resonated with me.
Given the goal of this blog is generally inspiration for good health &happiness, this is a harder post for me to write. The truth is, I don’t feel like I’ve been an inspiration to anybody of late. Not even a little bit. In fact last weekend before I even saw this quote (and of course re-gramed it!) I told a good friend that I currently feel a little broken. Unhealthy too.
Choosing the right picture for this post was a little difficult. I'm sure you will agree we don't often focus our camera's lens on those moments when things could have worked out better. This snap was shot in San Diego on a very over cast beach. It was the last day of a long weekend and my travel companion was on a much earlier flight than I. Which left me at our beachside locale without a lot to do. I could have easily sat around the hotel, perhaps had a few drinks and wasted away my day. Instead I decided to get out in the fresh air and practice yoga on the beach. To my delight the hotel even furnished me with a matt at my request. Result.
You know the feeling........you just reached your goal weight. Or saved enough for a deposit on your first home. Maybe you wrote your first book (I'm envious if you did that's on my goals list!). Or it's your birthday, it's Christmas, Hanukkah or any other special occasion. All of these in my book call for a celebration! Which society has trained us to believe equals champagne (or another drink of your choice). There is nothing wrong with this of course. I mean it's a celebration, of course you should drink booze.
For much of my life I followed the commonly held belief that a low fat diet is both good for you and supports a healthy BMI. Regularly consumed 'foods' included diet coke, skim milk, egg white omlette's, low fat dressings, diet yoghurt, cheese, sugar free gum and more. If you are still consuming these less healthy (yes less healthy) staples listen up. Stop right now. I guess you are wondering why?
